Sewer Line Repair / Trenchless Sewer Line Repair
Trenchless sewer line repair in Beverly, MA
Trenchless sewer line repair fixes or replaces your pipe through small access points, so you do not need a long trench across your yard. The two main methods are pipe lining and pipe bursting.
Can a sewer line be repaired without digging?
Often, yes. If the pipe still holds its shape, lining can fix it from the inside. If the pipe is too damaged to line, pipe bursting can pull a new pipe along the same path.
Trenchless work is not magic. It will not fit a pipe that has collapsed flat, has a deep belly or has been crushed. A camera inspection tells us what your line can take.
Beverly has used this method itself. The city lined about 13,000 feet of sewer mains and 162 house laterals using cured in place pipe lining.
What trenchless does for your yard
- Small access pits instead of a full trench
- Less risk to trees, walks, patios and plantings
- A new, smooth inside surface that keeps roots out
- A good fit for lawns and landscaping you want to protect
Roots: trenchless repair does not remove roots on its own. We cut or jet the roots out first, then line the pipe.
Which repair fits your sewer line?
Pick a method to see what it does, how much digging it needs and when it is the right choice.
Pipe lining
Small access points
A resin soaked liner is pulled into the old pipe and cured until it hardens. The result is a new pipe inside the old one. This method is also called cured in place pipe, or CIPP.
Best forCracks, small holes, leaking joints and root damage, where the old pipe still holds its shape.
Pipe bursting
Two small pits
A bursting head breaks the old pipe outward into the soil while it pulls a new HDPE pipe through the same path. You end up with a full new pipe without a long trench.
Best forPipes too damaged to line, such as badly offset, cracked or collapsed clay and cast iron lines.
Spot repair
One small dig
We dig down to one bad section and replace only that piece. The rest of the pipe stays in place.
Best forOne damaged section found on camera, with sound pipe on both sides.
Dig and replace
Open trench
We open a trench, remove the old pipe and set new pipe at the correct slope. It works on almost any line.
Best forCollapsed lines, deep bellies, Orangeburg pipe and lines that need a new path.
Trenchless versus traditional sewer line replacement
Trenchless saves your yard when the pipe allows it. Digging is the answer when the pipe does not.
Pipe lining and pipe bursting both need very little digging. A dig replacement needs a trench but works on almost any pipe. We choose by what the camera shows, not by what is easier for us.
Cost depends on pipe length, depth and material. We price your job after the inspection. See our sewer line replacement page for the dig method.
Does trenchless work on every sewer pipe?
No. A pipe that has collapsed flat, has a deep belly or is crushed may not take a liner. Some of those lines can be replaced with pipe bursting. Others need a dig replacement.
Are roots removed by trenchless repair?
Not by lining or bursting alone. Roots are cut or jetted out first. After that, the line is lined so roots cannot get back in.
Do I still need a camera inspection?
Yes. The camera shows if your pipe can take a liner and where the damage is. Read about our sewer line camera inspection.
Is trenchless repair cheaper than digging?
Not always. It can save on yard repair, because there is less to restore. The right price comes from your pipe length, depth and condition. Ask for both options when you request a visit.
